Activating Critical Allyship with Indigenous Peoples

  • Course
  • 15 Lessons

Pair your good intentions with actions that uplift Indigenous Peoples and avoid creating harm.

This course will help you understand key concepts in Critical Allyship, so you can steer your team away from the pitfalls of cultural appropriation, tokenism, and commodification and toward good relations with Indigenous Peoples.

What you’ll learn:

  1. The definitions of Decolonizing, Indigenizing, Reconciling, and Self-actualizing so you’ll have the vocabulary to describe your inclusion efforts.

  2. How to spot the difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation so you’ll know when to rethink your strategies.

  3. Respectful ways to engage with Indigenous Peoples so your inclusion efforts are an authentic reflection of your values.

  4. Examples of actions that individuals and organizations can take to undo colonial impacts.

This course is free so the learning can travel beyond paywalls.

If the work supports you, you’re invited to reciprocate with a donation to Salish Circle, a registered charity, to fund future courses. Donations can be made through our Fundraising Page (tax receipt issued immediately): [Zeffy link]
